Yes, Jess Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 10, 2026
The short version
We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. Yes, Jess uses what you tell us about your family to plan your meals, and uses anonymous meal ratings to make Yes, Jess better for every family.
- What we collect: your account details, what you tell Yes, Jess about your household (including allergies), your chats with Jess, your meal plans, and your feedback.
- Why: to build your weekly plan and shopping list, learn what your family likes, and keep the service running.
- What we share: only with the service providers that help us run Yes, Jess, such as hosting, AI processing and payments, under contracts that limit how they use it.
- Your control: you can see and edit what Yes, Jess has learned, turn off anonymous sharing, export your data, or delete your account at any time.
This policy covers the Yes, Jess website and app (the “Service”), operated by Yes, Jess (Legal Entity TBD) (“Yes, Jess,” “we,” “us”). It explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Allergy and dietary information. Allergies and food intolerances can be considered health information. We use them only to plan safer meals for your household, and we never use them for advertising or share them except with the service providers described below.
Information about other people. When you tell Yes, Jess about your spouse, children or others in your household, you confirm you have the right to share that information with us.
How we use your information
We use your information to run Yes, Jess and make it work better for your family.
- Build your weekly meal plan, recipes and shopping list around your household’s needs
- Respond to your messages and make the swaps and changes you ask for
- Learn your family’s preferences over time (see “How Yes, Jess learns”)
- Send service emails, such as your weekly plan, account notices and billing receipts
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Keep Yes, Jess secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs
- Meet legal obligations
AI processing. Yes, Jess is powered by artificial intelligence. To create your plans and reply to your messages, we send the relevant parts of your family profile and conversation through the AI gateway of our app platform, Lovable, to a large language model from Google (Gemini), OpenAI (GPT) or Anthropic (Claude). Lovable handles this data on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. Lovable’s agreements with these model providers restrict their use of the data, including for training. To help us find and fix problems, Lovable keeps a copy of each AI request and response, with secrets removed, for up to 90 days. Yes, Jess can make mistakes, so always check ingredient labels, especially for allergies.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you or your family.
How Yes, Jess learns and improves
Yes, Jess gets better in two separate ways: it learns your family’s tastes privately, and it learns from anonymous meal ratings across all families.
1. Personal learning (private to your household)
Yes, Jess uses your own feedback to shape your future plans:
- Favorites and well-rated meals come back from time to time
- Meals you mark “Not again”, and close variations of them, are not suggested to you again
- Your swap reasons (for example, “Quicker”) guide future choices, such as shorter cook times
- Thumbs up or down on chat replies help us find and fix where Yes, Jess misunderstood you
This information is tied to your account and is visible only to you and to the limited staff who need it to support you. You can see and remove it on the Family page under “What Yes, Jess has learned.”
2. Collective improvement (anonymous, across all families)
When “Help improve Yes, Jess for everyone” is on, your meal ratings, tags, favorites and swaps are added to anonymous totals for each meal, such as how often it was suggested, swapped out or rated well. These totals may be grouped by general household traits, such as “has a picky eater,” “has kids under 5,” a type of allergy, or a weeknight time limit.
- The totals contain no names, email addresses, account IDs or chat messages
- A meal’s totals only influence suggestions once enough families have rated it, so no single household can be singled out or sway results
- Other users can never see your individual feedback, ratings or chats
- We use these totals only to improve which meals Yes, Jess suggests
Your choice. “Help improve Yes, Jess for everyone” is on by default. You can turn it off at any time on the Family page. When it is off, your feedback still improves your own plans but is no longer added to the anonymous totals. Totals already calculated cannot be traced back to you and are not removed.
We don’t sell your data
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or rent it to anyone. We share it only in these cases:
| Who | Why | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| App platform and hosting (Lovable, using Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase) | Host Yes, Jess and store your account, profile, plans and feedback | The data needed to run the Service, handled on our behalf |
| AI models (Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, through Lovable’s AI gateway) | Generate meal plans and chat replies | The parts of your profile and conversation needed for each request |
| Payment processor (Stripe) | Handle subscriptions and payments | Billing details you give them directly |
| Email provider (Resend) | Send your weekly plan and account emails | Your email address and the email content |
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising pixels or tracking scripts. Lovable’s current list of the companies it relies on to run its platform is published at trust.lovable.dev.
These providers may use your information only to provide their service to us, and they must protect it.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business. If Yes, Jess changes ownership, this policy will continue to apply to information collected under it unless you agree otherwise.
Children’s information
Yes, Jess is for adults 18 and older who plan meals for their households. Children may not create accounts.
Parents often tell Yes, Jess about their children, such as ages, allergies and food preferences. We use this only to plan meals for your household and handle it with the same protections as the rest of your information. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account or sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Keeping your information safe
Each account’s profile, chats, plans and feedback are kept separate, and database rules stop any user from seeing another user’s information. Information is encrypted in transit, and access by our staff is limited to what is needed to run and support Yes, Jess. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer for legal, tax or billing reasons. Backups are cleared on a regular schedule. Anonymous meal totals that cannot identify you may be kept.
Your choices and rights
You can, at any time:
- See and edit your family profile on the Family page
- Review and remove favorites, “Not again” meals and other things Yes, Jess has learned
- Turn off anonymous collective improvement with the “Help improve Yes, Jess for everyone” toggle
- Request a copy of your personal information
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your account and personal information
- Unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in any email
Depending on where you live, including Texas and California, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to appeal a decision we make about your request. To make a request, email privacy@chefmealplanner.com. We will verify your identity and respond within the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and notify you by email or in the app before the changes take effect. We will never start selling your personal information without first asking for your consent.
